Alloy wheels are particularly susceptible to damage, whether small chip, scratches and dents or larger damage from heavy impacts. Depending on the level of damage, and the client’s own requirements, we use one of two approaches to restoring alloys wheels to showroom condition.

ABOUT AIRE VALLEY AUTO PAINT
Over many years I have relied on Chris to make good any damage to our vehicles, from bumber scuffs through to extensive accident repair. I would definately recommend using Aire Valley Autopaint and have passed on the garage details to a number of my business contacts.
Barry Wolstencroft, Skipton,
Our alloy wheels are refurbished to pristine condition using Glasruit paints and lacquers. The original lacquer coat is removed using wet and dry silicon carbide paper and the new paint is applied in layers over the top of an undercoat. The paint finish is then covered with a lacquer coat to protect the paint finish. A painted coating offers improved corrosion resistance but is less scratch resistant than a powder coating.
Powder coating is the process of applying an electro-statically charged dry paint powder and resin mixture to the alloy wheel. Prior to powder coating the alloys are shot blasted to remove the lacquer layer and may also be chemically stripped before blasting if the condition is particularly poor. The powder is then sprayed onto the alloy wheel and baked until cured. Powder coating offers improved scratch and corrosion resistance and will retain its colour and sheen longer than a painted alloy.
